Programattic environmental review, analysis, and decision making is typically reserved for comprehensive planning efforts. For the Mammoth Lakes Trail System, this included environmental decisions in September of 2011 on the "Trail System Master Plan" and the "Sherwins Area Recreation Plan."
Project specific environmental review includes trail alignments studies of trail "corridors" for the necessary analysis, review, and environmental decision making process. These studies can help curb the proliferation of unauthorized "use trails" through efficient on-the-ground implementation.
