Summer of Stewardship 2010: August 28, Panorama Dome, Twin Lakes, and Mammoth Rock Trail!

Co-hosted by Kittredge Sports, the High Sierra Striders, the High Sierra Triathlon Club, and the Mammoth Lakes High School Cross-Country Running Team!

Project description: Despite unseasonably chilly, windy, gray-bird weather, three dozen hearty volunteers arrived at the Panorama Dome trailhead on August 28 to spend their Saturday maintaining the Dome's trails as well as the Twin Lakes day-use area and Mammoth Rock Trail. Much work was done and core temperatures raised, owing in no small part, of course, to the bagels-and-juice breakfast provided by co-host Kittredge Sports. Wilderness Catering refueled our hungry volunteers with another stellar spread. Special thanks to Tamarack Lodge for letting us set up for lunch on the wind-protected patio behind their facility!

144 total hours of volunteer stewardship, a $3,002.40 value

Specifics:

4 miles of trail maintained along the Mammoth Rock, Panorama Dome, and Mammoth Mountain trails (brushing, rock removal, trail narrowing and lining)
6 switchback cuts restored
2 logs removed
2 signs fixed
50 pounds of trash removed
1 perfectly good beach chair rescued from the willows
